Registration for the 2025-2026 school year has currently finished. Should there be any change, we will publish an update here.
Registration for Year 1 (Preparatory)
A child must be aged 5 by the beginning of the school year to be considered for Year 1. Siblings of children already at RICE receive priority. Around April or May, we invite continuing families and new families interested in having their child join Year 1, to come for the Entrance Assessment. The Entrance Assessment covers English, Math, Amharic as well as assessing cognitive and aptitude ability. A child must pass these. For students who successfully pass this stage, there is also an interview with parents.
Registration for Year 2 – Year 13 (Grade 1 – Grade 12)
In May, current families are asked to make a commitment for the following school year. This helps us to see what spaces we will have available in other Year classes. Depending on where spaces are available we begin to invite new families to bring their child for an Entrance Assessment. The Entrance Assessment covers English, Math, and Amharic (for Year 1-6). For Year 2 only there is also an assessment covering cognitive and aptitude ability. A child must be aged 6 by the beginning of the school year to be considered for Year 2. For Year 7 upwards English, Math, and Science are assessed. A child must pass these. For students who successfully pass this stage, there is also an interview with both students and parents.
