Admissions
Registration for the academic year 2024-2025 has unfortunately now closed.
Registration for Year 1 (Preparatory)
Siblings of children already at RICE receive priority. In May, we invite continuing families and new families interested in having their child join Year 1, to come for the Entrance Assessment and interview. The Entrance Assessment covers English, Math and Amharic. A child must pass this.
Registration for Year 2 – Year 13 (Grade 1 – Grade 12)
In May, current families are asked to make a commitment for the following school year. This helps us to see what spaces we will have available in other Years. Depending on where spaces are available we begin to invite new families to bring their child for an Entrance Assessment and interview. The Entrance Assessment covers English, Math and Amharic. A child must pass this and the interview.

- Students requiring placement two or more years either below or above the Year recommended for their age will not usually be accepted. The table below provides a guide used to determine the appropriate age for any given Year.
- Successful applicants are normally admitted to RICE at the beginning of the school year. Students will only be accepted after this in exceptional circumstances.
- For the purpose of maintaining quality education in the classroom, RICE limits class sizes respective to the physical space in a classroom. The maximum class size for any Year is ideally 24 students per class.
